  • Question (Steive - 24 Nov 2015 16:57:11)

    What are the technical details of HONDA ACCORD POWER STEERING PRESSURE HOSE / PIPE 53713-SEF-E01 53713 SEF E01 53713SEFE01 10 / 2003 - 09 / 2008 2.2 2204 CC N22A1 5 SPEED MANUAL / AUTOMATIC ?

    Answer

Power Steering Hose Change and System Flush
    ● Remove Power Steeringhose using open-end wrench or screw driver.
    ● Install new Power Steering hose, hand thread fitting and tighten with open-end wrench.
    ● Disconnect return line at pump and point to drain pan. Cover pump tube with cap.
    ● Fill reservoir and start engine.
    ● Turn wheel side to side, filling reservoir as needed until fluid is clear.
    ● Stop engine. Remove cap, connect return line and re-check fluid level.
It is always recommended that you replace your return line
when replacing a Power Steering hose pressure hose. Failure to do so could
    result in further system damage.

    Question (Andy - 24 Nov 2015 17:07:33)

What are the main causes of leakage of Honda accord power steering hose 2.2 diesel 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008 ictdi

    Answer

Maintenance and Causes of Wear Honda accord power steering hose 2.2 diesel 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008 ictdi
    ● Inspection of Honda accord 2.2 diesel 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008 ictdi power steering hose eliminates expensive repairing or replacing of the
    pump or other components.
    ●Honda accord power steering hose 2.2 diesel 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008 ictdi should be replaced after 20,000 – 24,000 miles as preventive maintenance.
    ● High temperature pulsations cause Honda accord power steering hose 2.2 diesel 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008 ictdi to deteriorate from the inside.
The constant flexing and pressure surges result in the breaking off of small particles of Honda accord power steering hose 2.2 diesel 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008 ictdi
, which are carried through the system, and can lead to system malfunction.

    Question (crystal - 24 Nov 2015 17:21:04)

    how to install fix HONDA ACCORD POWER STEERING PRESSURE leak or leaking HOSE / PIPE 53713-SEF-E01 53713 SEF E01 53713SEFE01 10 / 2003 - 09 / 2008 2.2 2204 CC N22A1 5 SPEED MANUAL / AUTOMATIC

    Answer

Installation Procedure for Replacing Crimped or Ferruled Leaked leak or leaking Honda Accord Power Steering hose 2.2 diesel 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008 Return Line Assemblies
Note: This is ONLY for return line assemblies and will not work for pressure assemblies.
    1. Locate Honda Accord Power Steering hose 2.2 diesel 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008 to be replaced. If possible, for easier access, remove assembly from vehicle.
Locate ferrule attaching hose to the assembly.
    2. If assembly is removed from vehicle, clamp it with a vise or to a stationary object, such as a
table. BE CAREFUL, do not distort assembly when clamping.
    3. Using a hacksaw, dremmel tool or other
cutting-type tool, carefully cut the ferrule
lengthwise, slitting the ferrule from end to
end. IMPORTANT: Cut only the ferrule.
Cutting through the hose can damage the
tube or nipple surface. CAUTION: ALWAYS
WEAR EYE PROTECTION WHEN USING A
    ROTOR TOOL.
    4. After ferrule is split, spread it open and
    remove from assembly.
    5. Remove ferrule and existing hose. If hose
is stuck don’t force or pry it off. This could
damage the nipple. Use a sharp knife
to cut or peel it off. Don’t cut
too deep – avoid scoring the
    tube/nipple surface.
    6. Check nipple for damage and clean nipple
with a wire brush to assure a smooth
    sealing surface.
    7. Install new hose and secure with new clamps.
Lubricating hose with coolant makes installation
over nipple easier. Position new clamp
over hose between raised bead and exposed
tube surfaces. See below. Tighten clamp to
    recommended specifications.
    8. Reinstall assembly. With engine at operating
temperature, check for leaks and tighten
    clamps as needed.

    Question (nick - 24 Nov 2015 18:25:16)

How to inspect the leak faulty damage Honda Accord Power Steering hose 2.2 diesel 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008?

    Answer

    Guidelines for Inspection
    ● Brittleness or hardness — an early sign of internal wear. The Honda Accord Power Steering hose 2.2 diesel 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008 has lost its ability
    to absorb pressure surges.
    ● Soft, spongy Honda Accord Power Steering hose 2.2 diesel 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008 hose  A more serious sign of wear, indicating advanced internal deterioration
    and probably leakage.
    ● Leakage of Honda Accord Power Steering 2.2 diesel 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008 power steering fluid from hose — easily detected by visual inspection of Honda Accord Power Steering hose 2.2 diesel 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008 hose at fittings.
    ● External wear and abrasion — caused by contact with manifold or other engine parts;
calls for replacement and realignment of Honda Accord Power Steering hose 2.2 diesel 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008 hose.
    ● Thick, sludgy fluid in pump reservoir — indicates internal hose wear and need for
    a complete flush of system.

Sometimes an engine oil leak is mistaken for a leaking power steering hose, especially if the power steering fluid is getting old. When power steering fluid gets old, it gets darker in color and looks very much like old engine oil.

Power steering systems have other fluid hoses in addition to the pressure hose. These hoses can also leak and may require replacement.

    Question (isabell - 24 Nov 2015 22:08:40)

What is general information about Power steering hose ?

    Answer

How Power Steering hose / pipe / pipe works

Power steering hose / pipe carries high pressure steering power steering fluid to the power steering pump and the power steering rack. The high pressure hose / pipe carries power steering fluid from the pump to the steering rack, while a low-pressure hose / pipe carries the power steering fluid from the steering rack to the pump. Identifying a  Leaky / faulty  power steering hose / pipe is generally due to stiff steering control, or a smell of burnt oil coming out from under the vehicle's hood. There are two steps to deal with a  Leaky / faulty  hose / pipe: repairing it for a quick fix, or replacing it for a more permanent solution.

Common Symptoms / Signs of Power Steering hose / pipe is Leaking

There are many signs that a power steering hose / pipe is leaking, and the driver needs to know them all.

The most Common Symptom of Power Steering hose / pipe Leak & Other Possible Causes

    Burnt oil smell

    Radiator leak, engine oil leak

    Stiff steering

    Internal power steering issues

    Noisy steering

    Internal power steering problem

    Leak spots under car

Radiator leak or other engine oil leak

Not all common power steering problems are due to a  Leaky / faulty  hose / pipe. Some are not even caused by the power steering system at all.

How to Repair a  Leaky / faulty  Power Steering hose / pipe

If a smell of burnt oil is coming from the hood of the vehicle, or the power steering feels as though it is tightening up, it is most likely a  Leaky / faulty  power steering pump or hose / pipe. Certain situations make it impossible to replace the hose / pipe, so repairing it becomes the only option. The repaired hose / pipe should be able to get the vehicle home, where the driver can replace the hose / pipe. These steps display how to repair the hose / pipe safely and effectively.

    1. Park the Vehicle on Straight Ground

With the vehicle parked, but still running, lift the hood for a visual inspection. For safety reasons, engage the emergency brake on the vehicle. Make sure the vehicle is in park before engaging the emergency brake.

    2. General Inspection for Leaks

Visually inspect under the hood for any leaks. If there is a leak in the power steering hose / pipe, power steering fluid will be spurting out. This power steering fluid on a hot engine can cause a fire; so driving the vehicle is not safe before repairing the hose / pipe. Once the location of the leak is identified, shut the engine off.

    3. Repair the  Leaky / faulty  hose / pipe

Cut the damaged portion of the hose / pipe with a sharp knife. Place a hose / pipe clamp on either side of the remaining portion of the hose / pipe to connect them back together. Make sure the connection is tight, but avoid stripping the threads of the hose / pipe. Replace the hose / pipe back to the proper position.

    4. Refill Power steering fluids

Refill the power steering power steering fluid to the proper level before starting the vehicle. Since the power steering fluid leaked out during the time it took to notice the hose / pipe leak, the power steering fluids will need replenishing.

    5. Repair Test

Start the engine and look for leaks. If leaking still occurs at the location where the hose / pipe clamps sit, they may need tightening. If leaking occurs in another location, the hose / pipe needs to be repaired in that spot before driving.

Steps to Replace a Power Steering hose / pipe

If it is possible, replacing the power steering hose / pipe offers a much better option than simply repairing it. Follow the simple steps for properly replacing the  Leaky / faulty  power steering hose / pipe.

    1. Get Ready

Shut the engine off. Place a pan under the vehicle to catch the power steering power steering fluid as it pours out during the replacement.

    2. Remove the Old hose / pipe

Remove the hose / pipe from the power steering gear and pump by removing any fittings holding it into place. Cap the pump and gear fittings, and then remove any clips connecting the hose / pipe to the chassis. Replace the O-rings at the end of the hose / pipe.

    3. Install New hose / pipe

Attach the new power steering hose / pipe to the chassis, connecting the clips to hold it in place. Fasten fittings to the pump and steering gear after uncapping. Make sure all connections are secure, and that hose / pipe position is correct.

    4. Replace Power steering fluid

Replace any power steering fluid that was lost. If the hose / pipe had been leaking for a while, more power steering fluid will be necessary. Fill to recommended mark on the power steering pump. Once power steering fluid levels are correct, start the vehicle to ensure there are no leaks.
